On October 7, the new manure processing plant by Twence has officially opened. In the area of Twente around 975 pig farmers are dealing with a considerable amount of manure surplus. The new installation makes use of this surplus and processes the manure to generate new energy (In this case biogas). Next to production of bio gas, it also contributes to recovering a substantial part of the phosphate used in the manure. in this way Twence aims to contribute to realising circular agriculture, as well as helping in resolving the the Dutch nitrogen crisis and reducing our carbon footprint.
